Things We Have Learned This Weekend

- JT Electric has been officially dethroned by Leather Corner Post in having the loudest, most screaming fans in the league. What have we learned? It is true the older we get, the more we mellow.

- Joey Bs was once again two and out but once again they hung around all day to party What have we learned? Its not always about winning but its about always having a good time

- Sunday morning the field looked like $hit. And although were not supposed to touch the fields, it was a total effort by everyone there to work it and get it playable. Boobie from the Mad Bombers even ran to Lowes for a bag of sand which he paid for out of his own pocket and has since refused to be reimbursed by the league. What have we learned? That there still are some decent people in this f/n league that just want to play the game and just have a good time

- The Finals were one hell of a game won by one run by the Black Sox. PA Eye Care had the tying run on 2nd with one out and a double play ended the game. There was also a play at the plate I would like to get into. Runner on 3rd, the ball is coming home, and gets past the catcher. Catcher runs to the backstop to retrieve the ball, and the runner breaks for home. Pitcher sees this and goes to cover the plate. Catcher picks up the ball and throws it toward the pitcher. The ball, the runner, and the pitcher all arrive at the plate at the same time It was ugly. It was still a great game, though, and as luck would have it the schedule had them playing each other the following night. What have we learned? No matter how many times we cover the must slide or avoid collision rule there is still always going to be plays that are not specifically covered by that d@mn rule. In a case like this it will always be the umpires discretion, and no matter what the call one teams gonna get pi$$ed. What else have we learned? Since the teams in the finals ended up playing each other the next night whoever made up the schedule in the beginning of the year is a f/n genius!!!

- THE FIGHT. Im sure by now that everyone has heard about THE FIGHT. Personally, Ive heard 5 different versions of the fight and I was there, on the bottom of the pile. Suffice it to say that both captains of the teams involved have personally apologized to me on behalf of their respective teams. Both individuals that were involved in THE FIGHT have also come to me and personally apologized for their actions. Now if they would just apologize to each other Although League rules do state that any individuals fighting would be tossed from the league I tend to be a bit more lenient at the tourney because of the alcohol involved and the spirit of competition, and the heat of the moment And as luck would have it these two teams ended up playing each other again last night What have we learned? People should not mix prescription drugs, beer, Jaeger Bombs, and softball. What else have we learned? Since these two teams ended up playing each other right away again last night whoever made up the schedule in the beginning of the year is a f/n idiot!!!

Finally thank you to everyone who supplied me with food and drink all weekend most notably Mad Bombers, JT Electric and Joey Bs. Sometimes running this train wreck is actually worth the effort. Thank you.
