The book promotion started with a blast in
Jan....dates set up, fliers, posters, & contacts.

I continued working at Kmart (2 das
a week) & with STELLA! (2 das a week), though
disaster fell on 1/9 when STELLA! collapsed in my
arms & I had to call for the medics. Twenty mins.
more and we would have lost her! (heart beat just
30!)...she has since had a pace-maker installed & is
recuperating in a nursing home, though miracle of
miracles, she WILL return home soon.
On Jan. 17 I spoke
to 2 classes of Seniors and 2 classes of Freshmen at the
local Senior High School. What a high! - Got a standing
ovation!
On Jan 19 had a "phone-appointment"
with Social Security in prep for - ohmyGod! my 65th
birthday in March. All lookin� good! (Me and the
money)...
On 1/26 attended the Sons of Norway lodge 27
Installation of Officers (a gala event), where I sold
TWELVE books! YIPPEE! Had some great visits (at home and
out in South Superior) with high/grade school friends Betty
Anderson Peters, Jim Anderson & Bonnie Andrews Drake in
January AND Feb. Also friend Phoebe Savage Martens. Boy,
did we have LOTS to discuss!
Also the sis, Maizie Marro, of course - she came back from FL. after
the holidays with a "bug" of some sort, which
thanks be, is now under control!
I took the bull by the
horns (hair?) and went to WITC�s beauty school for a
perm....less than ten bucks (though a four hour ordeal
..ahaha)...nice job, though I panicked when they had
me sign a "release" in case all my hair fell
out or I went up in flames. ahahaa...
The first week in
Feb. was a bummer...had to work FOUR days in a row at
KMart, thanks to the other gal taking off on vacation...
made it though I have THIS week to contend with...more of
the same for four days....uff da!

On Wed. I will be "appearing" at the
Superior Public Library and then on Sat. (2/12) at
J.W.Beecroft
Books & Coffee. The following week (2/17) there
will be a "Book Party" at Les Bird�s Bar
in South Superior, where Crocodile Tears And Lipstick
Smears is set...well, in the AREA, not the bar! ahaha
- A tentative date is set up for the first Friday in
March at a local coffee bar - where there�s MUSIC!
(Maybe I could sing?) HA!
I managed to get my taxes done on 2/5, thanks
be....will be watching the mails for a refund...WHOOPEE!?
Also managed to go out for breakfast at
"Julie�s" daily with old friend Muriel
Viggiano...so I�m not starving during this
hectic period of my life...(Get real! - When did I EVER
starve?) .... It�s all very exciting and I�m
enjoying it.... sometimes I yearn for peace and quiet and MORE TIME - to
get back to my writing....have about six chapters
finished of tome two ...which is tentatively titled, "Fair
Game" (As opposed to Knockers Up!, which,
we�ve decided wouldn�t fly well in this
area)...LOL (laugh out loud)...
A couple more notes on "the
book" - It�s listed on the Internet at the Savpress
site, The 5th District Sons of Norway site,
and amazon.com site. The latter (amazon.com) has
an interview posted and there are (to date) 4 customer
reviews and an Editorial review.
Oh yah, Superior is
becoming a hot-bed of GANGS! The local DA, who was
prosecuting a murder case, with main suspect, a Chgo!
gang-member, had his house fire-bombed! - He and his
family luckily escaped...Unbelievable - though over the
last year or so there HAVE been several unsolved arson
fires, not to mention the burning of an ex-mayor�s
house, that has never been solved!!! hmmmm - makes me
homesick for Chicago! ahahaa -
