The paint seals the pores in the cast iron, It encapsulates any dirt or grit left from the abrasives used to clean it so they dont cause wear.

Gloss black enamel baked on. Nice and shiny

This is all the parts, Clean and painted Everything left bare is polished. Lots of elbow grease used to get it like this!!!
