Endoplasmic reticulum

Endoplasmic reticulum is the double membrane scattering throughout the mass of cytoplasm. The two membranes are very close to each other. The space in between is called the cristae. Part of the endoplasmic reticulum has numerous ribosomes on its surface. Then, it is called the rough endoplasmic reticulum. Otherwise, the smooth endoplasmic reticulum C

The endoplasmic reticulum is a network for fast transportation. The ribosomes on the surface of the rough endoplasmic reticulum can facilitate the protein synthesis. While the function of smooth endoplasmic reticulum is for the synthesis of steroids, fatty acids and cellulose.

The material collected by the endoplasmic reticulum would be transported to the peripheral part. From the peripheral part, shuttle vesicles are budded off. Then, the detached shuttle vesicles would move towards the Golgi apparatus and fuse with the Golgi apparatus.
