Identical to the RGM-79[G] GM Ground Type except for its color scheme, the GM Sniper was used for attacking targets from a distance. Instead of its standard weapon armament (excluding the 2 Beam Sabers), the GM Sniper was equipped with a Long Range Beam Rifle. Because the energy needed to fire the Beam Rifle was too much for the GM Sniper's reactor to produce, the rifle was hooked up to an external power supply as well as coolant system. Three Ground Type GM's were outfitted as GM Snipers and were instrumental in the destruction of the Apsalus III Mobile Armor.
