When Operation British proved a failure, the Principality of Zeon pursued other options to destroy Jaburo. One such option was Ginias Sakhalin's Apsalus Project, which involved building a Mobile Armor capable of atmospheric flight using a Minovsky craft system. Piloted by his sister, Aina Sakhalin, the Mobile Armor would travel along the surface to Jaburo's location, fly into a high orbit and destroy the base using an improved Mega Particle Cannon capable of penetrating the base's defenses. The Apsalus I was the first of three to be constructed and was used only to gather test data for the construction of the Apsalus II. The Apsalus had no real weapons except for an energy pulse that could be used as a defensive weapon. The Apsalus I was heavily damaged and construction proceeded with the Apsalus II.
