OUR PURPOSE:  To carry the message...
OUR SPIRITUAL MASCOT:  The Wild Goose
OUR MOTTO:  Rule 62 - Don't take yourself too seriously...

A MESSAGE FROM THE EDGE...

Come to the edge, Life said.
They said: We are afraid.
Come to the edge, Life said.
They came.

It pushed Them...
And They flew."

- Guillaume Apollinaire
1870-1918

=========FIRST THINGS FIRST========

A MOMENT OF SILENCE: for those who still suffer...
A PRAYER: Today, please, help us to make the next right decision...
 Thank You.

OUR DAILY TASK:
"Practice random acts of kindness and senseless beauty."

=========WE GOT MAIL========

A PUTER PAT IS BACK...

FROM:  puter pat
SUBJECT:  a variety of subjects

1) How do you deal with another person's addiction...

L'il Girl Wrote:
<< how do you deal with an alcoholic who has made it dry
for two years but has swapped it for another
addiction..and when confronted..says he has stopped
only to find out he did not stop but has gone further
in the addiction since being confronted?? >>

Even before I finally got sober - someone tells/does that - I merely say BS -
leads to talks - be tough .......

Grin ......
Pat

2) << ...You want certainty, order, all that? Then invent it!... >>

Now some things I do well - very inventive - want to hear all my excuses to
drink and party??? ......

Ahhhh, so nice to have Recover back in my mail - Thanks, Lumpy ......

Grin ......
Pat

3)<< I have been sober for about 2 months now >>

Know what, Rick???  That's a heck of a good start - I'll be watching, grin,
don't worry - I ain't perfect but I'll be watching - ain't gonna let ya catch
up to me by me slipping - grin, keep ur eye on me too - I used to 'slip' a
lot but, I'm cured now - ho, ho, ho .......

Grin, know what??? I enjoy sobriety - now ......
Pat

4) << I have been receiving e-mails and not responding
and I apologize for it. I am very involved in area service and in my
local N.A. so I have been extremely busy. >>

Ahhh, so easy to overfill ur plate at a banquet - so much to do, so much is
offered - so easy to go overboard .......

So I say so nonchalantly as I wonder what/who I am forgetting ......

Grin, not quite perfect yet - but sober ......
Pat

5) << However, I am still only 80 days in recovery so don't feel too comfortable
being out at work.  Does anyone have any suggestions.  At this point I don't
feel a need to share this with many co-workers.  Is this a bad thing?  >>

Peet only 80 days???  Fella, that is absolutely great!!! --- By the way ya
write I know ur adding more days (by the time ya get to read this) - by all
means, let ur co-workers know - unless it makes ya uncomfortable - don't
really know ur situations but letting them know gives you and them a boost in
A Day At A Time if ya know what I mean ......

There's an old saying, something like, "If ya can't walk the talk - don't
talk the walk" - go for it ......

Grin, I'll listen for reports ......
Pat

6)<< programs, and for some folk, it's a subject better left out of the work
environment.  Still, it has always been, and always will be,  a matter of
personal choice for me, and for that I am also grateful.

Hope this helps... >>

Grin, thanks for your share, Lumpy .......
Pat
@(^o^)@ Thank YOU for sharing, Pat...GLAD! to have you back in the loop...

==========NOTABLE QUOTEZ=========

As a principle-centered person you try to stand apart from the emotion of the situation
and from other factors that would act on you, and evaluate the options.
Looking at the balanced whole--the work needs, the family needs, the other needs that may be involved,
and the possible implications of the various alternatives--
you'll try to come up with the best solution taking all factors into consideration.
-- Steven Covey

-Gary Collins

I so love the Spanish proverb "God says, 'Choose what you will and pay for it,'"
which stresses that life holds no easy answers,
that conscious choices are often costly ones.
We must live with and pay for their consequences.
Understanding this, we learn what it means to be fully human.
Furthermore, we can exploit every delay as a cycle of growth.
--Marsha Sinetar

In the important decisions of personal life,
we should be governed, I think,
by the deep inner needs of our nature
--Sigmund Freud

When coasting in our comfort zones, we don't grow.
We continue to do more of the same...
Maintaining a comfort zone can, paradoxically, lead to discomfort in the long run.
If by being comfortable we avoid important life issues, internal tension accumulates...
Eventually, as both internal and external pressures for change persist,
the "comfort zone" ceases to serve us.
--Eric Allenbaugh

if he does not wash his hands, he is called dirty,
if he does, he is wasting water."

Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him .

Sometimes they hurt us, seemingly without provocation, but we invariably find that at some time in the past we have made decisions based on self which later placed us in a position to be hurt.

Though our decision was vital and crucial step, it could have little permanent effect unless at once followed by a strenuous effort to face, and to be rid of, the things in ourselves which had been blocking us.

If you have already made a decision, and an inventory of your grosser handicaps, you have made a good beginning.

Here we ask God for inspiration, an intuitive thought or a decision.

EXCERPT FROM: THE JOURNEY

Above the mountains
the geese turn into
the light again

painting their
black silhouettes
on an open sky.

Sometimes everything
has to be
enscribed across
the heavens

so you can find
the one line
already written
inside you...

Deliberate with caution, but act with decision;
and yield with graciousness, or oppose with firmness.
- Charles Caleb Colton

Making decisions - for many of us, it's among the most difficult and even dreaded things we have to do.
Yet it doesn't have to be that way, not if we're willing to take a close look at the way we ordinarily approach decision-making.
If we're really honest about it,
the first thing we'll realize is that making a decision isn't anywhere near as painful as not making one.
Even when we're not quite certain in the case of a "close call", at least we take action when we decide.
If we sit on the fence paralyzed by doubt, we don't go anywhere.
For some of us, the inability to make important decisions is the result of our unwillingness to take responsibility.
And we often pay an added price  for that - we're more easily influenced by others into taking actions that may not be right for us.
The ability to make decisions without undue anguish seems to improve
in direct proportion to growing self-awareness and self-honest-
along with our willingness to take the steps necessary for change and progress.
It also improves as we learn to trust ourselves and others.
We are best able to confidently and comfortably make decisions when we learn to trust God,
by listening to his guiding voice within us.

Thought for today: Making a decision isn't nearly as painful and NOT making one.
