I have 2 pets and they are Betta Fish,(I call them the Fighting Fish. Why? I'll explain later).
*ABOUT THEM*
These type of fish are REALLY REALLY REALLY interesting. They each have their own personalities, style, pace, characters, and taste (taste meaning food, like us humans, we like some foods and hate some foods, same goes with the bettas).
*Betta Behaviour* Bettas have bad attidude problem.Bettas get pissed off at each other, and stay calm, quite and normal with other species. But why do they only get pissed at their own species and Why do they get pissed?Don't ask, because I've nooooo idea.
How do bettas show other bettas that they are pissed? You can ask that, because I know the answer. The way they show that they're pissed is by stretching their fins REAL wide, and open their gills as WIDE as they can (this is called flaring or displaying)and shows off itself, kinda like,"Watch it,I am bigger then you,so I can kick you off".So NEVER put two betta fish together, otherwise you'll be saying goodbye to one them. This is what will happen if you put two betta fish together: they'll kill each other.Thats all.But the cutest thing about them is their size. They are one index finger long.Yup,thats how small they are.
Put a mirror infront of a betta, and when they see their reflection, yup you guessed it,they think its another betta and start flaring. Its not that they are dumb, its just that they don't know how they look, like we know how we look. The betta can go on and on and on flaring at its reflection and never reliazes that its been flaring at himself all along.Trust me,you'll have fun watching them flaring. ****************************** Now lets back to MY betta fish.Like I said before,I have 2 betta fish. One's name is Nash, the other Scruff. They're a great pair.I put their tanks side by side,so they can see each other. Its good to have a company, rather being alone in a tank, where you dont know where you are but later get used to it, and then be bored because you've got no company. WAH! ****************************** *Nash* Name:Nash Darling Skinnybones Gender:Male Colors:Body color:light peach.Fins:Beautiful Blue.Eyes:Black, but dark white when scared. Food:Pellets About him: Ahhhhhh Nash.My cute little betta fish. He's cute al right, but a coward.OH OH! I THINK NASH SAW WHAT I WROTE.WHEW,he didnt,he was just staring at Scruff. Now let me get back,he's coward because he never comes up and nips off the food that is stuck on my finger, instead,he waits and waits untill I finally drop it.I get tired of waiting,so eventually I do drop it.Its not fond of flaring at Scruff because compare to him, Nash is so little and Scruff big.So Nash doesnt want to mess with him.Good thinking Nash. But when Scruff ticks Nash off by flaring at him,(Nash), all the time,Nash gets pissed and starts to flare.OHHH! When Nah flares,he REALLY, flares. And when Nash gets pissed,it sometimes surprises Scruff, and when Scruff gets surprised,he sometimes backs up,giving a look saying, "WOAH".Nash can't wide its fins or gills as big as Scruff can.Thats why Nash doesn't mess with Scruff.Good Thinking Nash. Thats my Nash. ****************************** *Scruff*
Name:Scruff Fatty Chubs Gender:Male Colors:Body:red, fins:white, green, and a touch of red. eyes:black Food:pellets and fried worms About him: Scruff.A brave big-little fish. Fond of flaring at Nash.Wheever he sees Nash swimming by,Scruff immediately swims quickly towards Nash and strethches its fins and wides its gills as far as possible and starts flaring and showing off at Nash.Scruff's fins are so curly at the end, you'd say that it has been combed a hundred, or so, times. When it sees my fingers in the air,(which I do when I feed it),it goes up the water's surface and swims ,all excited for the food, and wears a look saying,"GIMME GIMME GIMME!",.And when it bites, it bites really hard, unlike Nash, who bites soft.Yup.Thats my little-big brave betta fish. ****************************** All the pics thats below are NOT my betta fish.If you'd like more info on betta or see more pics of them, then check out this site: www.bettatalk.com |
