In the Spring of 2001, La Unidad Latina Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity Inc. decided to make their official entrance upon the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This decision was made because of the rapidly changing demographics that demonstrated the tremendous increase of the Latino population within the borders of the Tar Heel state. Our organization was founded to provide community service and was created to protect and preserve the rights of under-represented populations. The Alpha Iota chapter of LUL has a mission to serve as a tool of service for the Latino community and to provide awareness of the Latino community within the University and its surrounding communities.
UNC-Chapel Hill is the nation's oldest public university, and also considered to be one of the finest colleges of all American institutions whether they be public or private. Our goals are real and so are our efforts.
Our motto is La Unidad Para Siempre or Unity Forever, and that is the ideal by which every Hermano of the fraternity lives by.
