The town of Field, B.C. has changed very little in the past 5o years. Situated at the base of Mount Stephen in the heart of Yoho National Park this small town is the "Take-off" point for hikes in Yoho. A herd of elk spend much of the summer grazzing in the townsite. In the spring residents caution caution their children to watch for grizzly and black bears that frequent the streets. Due to the elevation of Field most of the hikes are snow-bound until late June. Most trails in this park are designed for hikers on foot, providing access to high mountain passes and glaciers.
This trail on Mount 7 can be accessed with a 4-wheel drive from Golden B.C. in approximatley 45 minutes. The view from Mt Seven is of Golden and the Columbia Valley that divides the Rocky and Purcell Mountains.
