| Welcome to the Fitness Forum link! If you are reading this, you have already taken the first steps necessary in one of the most vital journeys in your life; wellness. While our mother site and founder is Journey to Wellness, which dedicates it's knowledge to the interests of healing the mind and spirit as well as the body, we here are focused on fitness. This site is continually growing and help from our staff includes vast knowledge in the areas of fitness and rehabilitation in which new research is always finding new information, which may or may not discredit old views on fitness. The truth is, the principles of exercise were established thousands of years ago, but strong scientific data supporting them have only been available since the Harvard exercise labs first began their experiments in the mid 1900's. Schools of thought in biology and medicine have been practiced and respected as a science since the days of Michaelangelo when he first disected a human body and put on a fabulous anatomical display of the body through his paintings. The point is, this is a relatively new science and a revolutionary field of study, which continues to find new research. However, there are still many debates of which types of exercises are most suitable or most effective for any particular situation. It is our duty here to provide the knowledge and evidence of the "why" and the "how", but it is up to you to prove it upon yourself. Remember, everyone is made differently and the physiology and anatomy of people differ from person to person. There is no exercise or prescription that will be suitable for 100% of the population, but only ones that are inventive and effective for many. We will attempt to provide suitable information for as many different population groups as we can. We feel strongly about showing you how to heal the most common ailments through specific exercises. Common ailments such as low back pain, shoulder and knee problems, etc. will be given prescriptive exercises for healing. To see results through fitness it is necessary to have a body in proper working order. Just as a race car cannot go out onto the track with a bald tire, or a building cannot be built on poor foundation, your body cannot see proper results without being able to function properly to begin with. Thus the term "functional" training helps bring our bodies to function properly. This concept of Functional training is used widely by physical therapist across the nation to help those with muscular imbalances, postural deficiencies, and any ailment that can be cured through proper exercise techniques. However, remember that the information we present to you is not a substitute for a professional who can watch you carefully and personally make sure you are performing the techniques properly. Only a professional in your presence can guide you to a proper form, which may take many months or more for some persons of a particular ailment or population. We wish for the best and may GOD bless your journey to success and your journey to wellness. | ||||||||||||||||||
