Reds cancel Redsfest, cite lack of location June 2, 2004 The Reds said Tuesday they are canceling Redsfest, their annual winter gathering of players and team officials to meet with fans, for the next two years because the Reds cannot find space for the events. The event was held each of the last eight years at the Cincinnati Convention Center. Reds players and team officials were available for autographs, photographs and sometimes question-and-answer sessions with fans. But the center is to be renovated, and other regional convention centers are not big enough to provide the space that the event requires, said Cal Levy, the Reds' director of marketing. More than 70,000 fans have attended Redsfest. |
