| After receiving her early training in Sydney with Janece Graham and Tanya Pearson, Lucinda Dunn won a scholarship at the Prix de Lausanne to study at The Royal Ballet School, London and danced with Birmingham Royal Ballet. In 1991 she accepted a contract with The Australian Ballet. She was promoted to Senior Artist in 1995 and in 2002 became a Principal Artist on the last night of the Melbourne season of Beyond 40 - The Australian Ballet's birthday gala. Lucinda has been awarded several scholarships to study overseas and has been partnered by many international guests of The Australian Ballet including Robert Tewsley and Bruce Samson. A diverse and musical dancer with a strong technique, Lucinda excels in the pure classical ballets and enjoys portraying characters in story ballets, as well as the physicality of contemporary pieces. As a guest artist Lucinda has danced with the Royal Danish Ballet and the Le Jeunne Ballet de France, and has been awarded scholarships to the USA to study roles with world-renowned Gelsey Kirkland, as well as Georgina Parkinson, former Principal of The Royal Ballet, and Marianna Tcherkassky, former Principal of American Ballet Theatre. Her principal roles in the traditional classics include Giselle, La Bayad�re, Don Quixote, Spartacus and The Sleeping Beauty, as well as ballets by Balanchine, Lander, Ashton, Forsythe, Murphy, Bintley, Welch and Wheeldon. She has also performed in many contemporary ballets, notably In the Upper Room (Tharp), Sinfonietta (Kylian), Gemini (Tetley) and Por vos muero (Dauto). In 2001 she was nominated of a Mo Award for Dance Performer of the Year (for her roles in Theme & Variations and The Merry Widow). While guesting with Birmingham Royal Ballet performing David Bintley�s full length ballet Far from the Madding Crowd and Balanchine�s Western Symphony in a triple bill programme. She also made her debut performance as Milady in The Three Musketeers and featured in Stanton Welch's Velocity. In 2004 Lucinda received rave reviews for her roles in Balanchine�s Serenade, Agon and Sypmphony in C. She has also been praised for her roles as the Baroness in Graeme Murphy�s Swan Lake, and as Lise in La Fille mal gardee. Lucinda has also guested with The Sydney Youth Ballet Company. Repertoire highlights In addition to the ballerina roles in all of the major classical ballets such as Giselle, Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake and Copp�lia, a particular career highlight for Lucinda was dancing the world premiere of Stanton Welch�s The Sleeping Beauty in 2005. Other highlights include her performances on The Australian Ballet�s tours to London, Tokyo, Italy, Shanghai and New York, as well as dancing lead roles in contemporary works by Wheeldon, Kylian, Robbins, Balanchine, Tharp, Fonte and Baynes.
