| Director: Tony Scott Starring: Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie, and Susan Sarandon Miriam, a centuries old Egyptian vampire bestows the gift of immortality and agelessness on her lovers while subsisting upon their blood. With her current lover, John, whom she fell in love with in England in the 18th century, they prey on unsuspecting victims in New York nightclubs in order to maintain their requirements. However, when John awakens one morning to discover telltale signs of aging, it is revealed that his own sustained youth is not permanent, and his aging begins to increase at an exponential rate. In a panic, John visits the clinic of scientist Sarah Roberts, a doctor who specializes in premature aging but she dismisses him, leaving him to sit in the lobby for several hours, during which he ages several decades. After learning of his condition, Sarah traces John to his uptown flat. John is nowhere to be found, having been relegated by Miriam to a box in the attic surrounded by her other undead loves. This leaves Miriam to deal with Sarah, in which she seduces Sarah into a steamy and passionate lesbian tryst, which are tastefully done. Their passion is consummated by a mingling of Miriam's blood with Sarah's, which later manifests itself as a psychic link between the two women and leaves Sarah with a rapidly-increasing appetite for blood. |
