I was born in Arad, a town in the West of Romania. After high school, I went to the Music Academy in Bucharest. At the time I wished to become an opera singer, but I soon realized that I would never be a second Callas, so after graduating in 1972 I moved on and started writing. My first story was published in a magazine in 1974.

In 1975 I married a writer, H.Salem. He was a prose-writer and wrote wonderful humorous stories and novels. And we jointly wrote some plays - comedies, of course - and many humorous works for the Radio and the TV. He unfortunately died in 1991.Lucia Verona

My first book in print was a translation from Hungarian, the novel "Eppur si muove" of the classic writer Jokai Mor. After my husband's death, I continued to write plays, but also prose. I am a member of the Romanian Writers' Union and last year I was elected president of the drama section of the Bucharest  Writers' Association (which is the Bucharest branch of the Writers' Union).

In the last few years I've discovered a new hobby - the web design. I built quite a lot of websites for myself, for my friends, for my fellow-writers, also for the Bucharest Writers' Association and for the magazine "Drama". Cooking is another hobby of mine, but web design is less dangerous for my weight!
