My favorite painter of all times. Different to Monet, Renoir's paintings mostly capture people and life in the Parisian society in the end of 1800s, beginning of 1900s. The perfection in the way he masters light effects, and the unique style of mixing colors (with frequent use of blue and red tonalities) are the reasons why I fall in love with his works.
One of the founders of Neo-Impressionism, whose technique included the style later known as Pointillism. His 'Un dimanche apres-midi `a I'lle de la Grande Jatte' (A Sunday on la Grande Jatte) is the most famous example of such style. The whole picture is composed by infinite little colorful points creating a unique effect. (1884, Art Institute of Chicago, 208 x 308cm)

Renoir painted dozens of portraits to French aristocrats, and this was the way he could manage his finances better than his colleagues. Not particularly to this case, but it can be seen from photographs that people look much nicer under his brushes than in real life...
