Reports
The results we made during the events or in testruns will be showed in this new page. The purpose is to have an overview of all ups and downs, which is normal in this sport. If you can't handel this, you never should begin to try it. The sort of the events is from newest to oldest.
After the rebuild of the sprinter in September 1999, we started with the idee, that the WR of 1980, which was an only about 0.1 sec. better than the one before from 1968, should be very soon and not so easy. However the first results gave us the right to think so, the problems we have have to deal with, are more than we had espected. But don't think we have lost the battle, not at all. In doing the tuning we are learning and you will see that however it take some time we are still sure about the end of this project: " a new WR sprint on the 1/4 mile"

Best runs till so far
Made on July 8, 2001 at Drachten with the 5 Speed VanVeen engine from 1968 with the wind right in the face of 4-5 bft.
1/8 mile 9.70 sec 107.8 km/h
1/4 mile 15.795 sec 128.5 km/h.

This time is only 0.434 sec from the FIM WR of Jan Nyhuys on a Casal Plompen (Kreidler)
The official FIM registration is 94.290 km/h averidge. On the 1/4 mile (1609.35m :4 ) equal to 15.361 sec.

The Planning 2003
We do have a good perspective for tis year. For the first time after several years it seems te happen, that there will be record run on Elvington on September 28 and 29. (see Forum NSA)
And yet we have to care to be ready for it. The first air cooled engine with the Super Breitwand have dramaticle changed, within a few days we will have the first results. The second engine with the watercooled cylinder will also be ready very soon.
As last year we will not drive an event when we are not sure about a result under the WR. The first one will be on Drachten July 11-13. May be we are going to Jubbega as well, but at this moment we are not sure about this.
At this moment we are not looking for a big sponsor, because in this bad economic times this is not easy. May be we change our minds after very good results.

Aalt Toersen back to the dragtrack??
The old World Record holder is planning to do so. But he does many other rebuildings of very nice racing engines, so it may last for some time. It will not be a Kreidler as in the past, but a new sprint Jamathi does sound also very interestical. We will see......

REPORTS FROM THE PAST

Year 2002
We only have done 2 events, this was coursed by a number of facts. The most important one was that the Super Breitwand engine doesnot perform what it should be.
In Drachten the results were not better than before, the SB engine was changed for the old one VanVeen 5 speed, because the SB was not reliable. We have to make big changes that is for sure.

2002, July 13/14 Drachten Internationals
The first time to the 1/4 mile dragtrack. On thursday we made our last testruns, we timed 4.0 sec over the 50 meter and 5.9 sec over the 100 metre. That was still not what we wanted, but it is a step in the right way. So we are a little optimistic when we leave for Drachten. But this turns out completely different. In the first trail we don't even come from the startingline at all. The weather changes coursed a bigger ...? for more fuel, but that seems not to be the only problem. What we tryed that day in ignition, fuel, compression, exhaust e.o., nothing seems to help.
So for the second day we changed the engine again with the old one, which sounds directly much better. But we didn't get many change because of the rain that day. So at he end we reached a time of 16.05 sec, what was very disappointing. We new that the new engine has to be changed, but what?

2002, May: Jubbega Dutch Open Moped Sprinting
The second time we have been at Jubbega and the first real trial for the SB engine this year. However we made an acceptable time, we will forget it as soon as possible. The SB didn't produce the hp's we espected, even the old engine of 1968 had more hp's. There is something wrong in the engine of which we are not sure what it is. It seems to be the transfers in the cylinder which are doing it right.

2001, September 8, Jubbega Dutch Open Moped Sprinting
We were only were present for demo purpose and also tried to make a demorun on the 150 metre track. But the track was to wet for the lightweight sprinter of 32 kg. So it was to dangerous to go on. Next year we hope to have better weather.

2001, September 1 Drachten
Althought the weather was not very helpfull, on Saterday we could do 3 runs. But unless the wind was much less than on July 7, we couldn't even realise the time 15.795 sec. We are waiting for a time of about 15.3 sec. But the engine was giving less power than last time. At that time we couldn't find the reason why. (Now we know the real problem and have already desolved it) Between the 3 run we made very little changes in compression and ignitiontime. But with minimum result. On Sunday we would use another cylinder of which we knew it would be a little faster in the start, but than the rain spoiled the event again. Althought we had espected to be faster than the WR of 15.36 sec this weekend, we know that ...have to be patient.

Times and speed 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile:
10.0 sec 108.1 km/h - 16.1 sec 126,2 km/h
10.5 sec 104.0 km/h - 16.9 sec 125.4 km/h
10.7 sec 107.8 km/h - 17.0 sec 125.8 km/h
9.9 sec 107.1 km/h - 16.0/127.2 km/h (no DHRA time on 1/4)
10.0 sec 108.8 km/h - 15.9/128.0 km/h (no DHRA time on 1/4)

2001, July 13/14 Drachten Internationals
This was a big weekend because a reporter from magazine "Bromfiets" should come for pictures and a story. Albertus Nieuwenhuis was the man to meet. He was in the past also a sprintdriver on 250cc Yamaha, so he knows every thing. It was a very pleasant meeting and you can read the story here (only in Dutch, I'll translate it later). We made many runs on saterday but not the one we aimed for.
The best results this weekend are the best till so far. If you keep in mind that the wind was right in the face of about 4-5 bft, than we might probably say we met the WR time almost.
1/8 mile 9.70 sec 107.8 km/h
1/4 mile 15.795 sec 128.5 km/h.

Year 2000
April 7 Lelystad, after 29 years for the first time on the startline. It was a very plessant expiriance. The old engine does it very well Only the steering was very tricky. The bearings were very difficult to tune rightly. But for the next time we will made some changes to this. The time of 9.7 sec on the 1/8 mile was very good. 9.5 should be about the WR.

Year 1999 'Opening of 50cc Museum Lexmond'
Because there was a reunion of old 50cc drivers, I wanted to restored the first sprinter of the Dutches of 1967. And when it was ready I was already planning to drive again on it. Some details has to be repeared, like the engine fitting details. Also the 6 volt ignition system was replaced for an electronic one of 12 volts. The front wheel should now be a 20 inch bikewheel as planned in 1967. But in those days you couldn't get the nice ones of to day. But the 18" racing bike front wheel can also be mounted again if neccesarry. The rest was completely original from the past.

Year 1993 'First reunion 50cc drivers'
In 1993 was the first classic evenent of 50cc racingbikes from the past. It was Aalt Toersen who invited all old 50cc and 125cc drivers to show up, with ou without there old bikes. This was a great event, after more than 20 years I saw back many old friends and however we are some older we reconised eachother, and we had great fun that day. I'll will show some pictures of it soon.
