Lucas Gray went through a six year Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering program at Memorial University of Newfoundland. MUN is one of the top schools for NAOE in North America, and in 1995 was ranked higher than MIT for curriculum of undergraduate Naval Architecture. On a Legal note, the MUN Engineering program is an accredited in the United States, but Lucas does not yet have his Professional Engineering license. Most insurance firms require only that a boat or yacht is designed to class, such as ABS, and does not need to be designed by an Architect with a PEng. after their name.
