Been playing since June of 2001 thanks to a friend who played guitar which made me want to learn to play it, I liked Limpbiskit, Nirvana and stuff like that when I first started, later I became more interested in Metal like Metallica, Megadeth and started playing lead guitar. In my first year of playing guitar I was taking classes with a teacher who didn't knew what tapping of legato or even alternate picking was (go figure). Later I began taking classes with other teacher that showed me techniques like legato, tapping, sweep picking (very basic) etc.
But it wasn't until I bought Marco Ferrigno's "The Quest" that I became really interested in neo-classical instrumental shred, took lessons with marco ferrigno too, thats when I became getting better.
Here are some of the best Neo-Classical Records that are worth checking out.
"The Quest" by Marco Ferrigno.
"Rusty Cooley" by Rusty Cooley.
"Triology" by Yngwie Malmsteen.
"Venomous Fingers" by George Bellas.
"Turn of the Millenium" by George Bellas
"Promised Land" by Marco Ferrigno, Vitalij Kuprij and Javier Leal.
