Yew
What I know:
� A very versatile, hardy, and tolerant evergreen shrub.
� Often used in foundation plantings, or as a slow growing screen.
� Female carries berries into the winter. They are poisonous, but well liked by Cedar Waxwings.
� The sprawling varieties are easily pruned to maintain a neat appearance, while the columnar varieties don't require pruning but can handle it.
� I don't know of any really special needs, it'll grow in most kinds of soil, and light levels.
� The Hick's Yews should grow to be roughly 3' wide and 10' high.
� I've lost two yews which were planted the spring of 2000, into a clay soil, in medium shade. I am unsure of the cause of death, as the other three yews nearby are doing fine.
