Eastern Redbud
What I know:
� A small, multi-trunk tree.
� Characterized for it's covering of pink blossoms on leafless stems in the spring, and large, heart-shaped leaves for the rest of the season.
� The Redbud produces seed pods later in the year, which can hang from the branches for quite some time (into the next growing season, in some cases).
� My Redbud blooms around the end of April.
� It is a native plant to Southern Ontario, but that seems to be the northernmost extent of it's range.
� I am told that it will not grow in clay.
� It seems to be important to keep the dead, diseased, or damaged branches pruned out.
� I have heard that it can be grown in stands at forest-edge, however I have not seen this and grow my own as a solitary specimen.
