What I know:
� This used to be a common hedgerow or foundation plant, but has become less frequent due to the much smaller yards of today.
� Stems (stalks? canes? shoots?) can grow up to 20' long in a season.
� They will grow vertically from the base to a height of about 10' then cascade over to almost touch the ground again.
� They produce 1"-2" wide white flowers which are very aromatic and ast for quite a while. In fact, my one bush can be smelled by neighbours three doors 'upwind' and countless neighbours 'downwind'. Thankfully, it is not an intrusive scent and all I've received are compliments.
� The multi-stem and overhanging habit make for a large 'cave' that the kids love to play in - they call it 'The Jungle'.
� Pruning is a necessity! I just remove older material that has begun branching, so that the bush stays a little open in the middle, and I don't have 40' branches to contend with.
� If you have the space I would strongly recommend a few of these. This is the kind of plant that makes gardening worthwhile.
