Black Walnut![]() What I know: Can grow very very large over many decades. Roots produce a chemical called Juglone which poisons other plants. The list of plants which will grow under a Black Walnut is very short. The green husks rot down to become a nice furniture (or driveway) stain. My trees only seem to drop walnuts every other year but I don't think this is part of it's nature.
