I'm not too shy about showing off my kids!
While it may appear that Nik & Bud are being very brutal with each other, it really is a game they play a lot. Usually, Buddy is just minding his own business, resting on some chair, when Nikki decides that she's in the mood to play! Then Nikki sticks her face into Buddy's, waves it around until Buddy gets annoyed and the fur really does start to fly, literally! Sometimes it starts when Nikki offers Buddy one of her toys, as above. I think Nikki knows that Buddy cares little about her noisy ball, but she is still asking him to play with her! Although Buddy has both his front & back claws, along with his sharp teeth, while Nikki looks as if she's viciously biting at Buddy, I've yet to see either draw blood or sustain any injury other than a momentary bruised ego. Nikki does lose a bit of her undercoat via Buddy's claws, but she's got plenty of that, since she hardly lets me groom her properly.
I think that Nikki & Buddy are each other's favorite toys!!
Actually, this electronic mouse toy may be Nikki's favorite toy or worst enemy, because she gets so excited and/or angry whenever I turn it on and allow her to PLAY with it. This reaction is quite immediate as soon as I bring the mouse toy out and show it to her. I think she deliberately tries to kill it as the eyes light up, it scurries across the floor, changing direction and makes a repeated mocking sound of "Na nana nana na... Uh oh!" in its electronic voice. Both Nikki's reaction and the sound of this mouse are very funny, and it's hard not to laugh at Nikki's furociousness. However, since its hard plastic shell may break into pieces that could harm her and/or the cat may eventually like to play with his toy (ie. though Buddy has shown no interest in it so far), I have to turn this thing off after only a few moments and put it out of her sight. Somehow still, I think she'll get a hold of this mouse one day, when I'm not aware, and she will finally KILL IT!
