Captain's Log 5

Star Date 06070.3

I have some grim news to report in this log. While things planet-side seem to be going well, the wormhole seemed to be drifting. The truth of the situation was that hole was being pushed! I don’t think it was intended, but you never know.

Let me start from the beginning. We noticed the wormhole that had swallowed Mr. Brundle had begun to move, and it was moving in the general direction of the Romulan border. What was perplexing was there seemed no pattern to the movement as far as speed or direction until we moved to the other side of the hole, between the border and the hole, and started projecting low-level fields of differing energy at it to try to understand what was effecting it. We didn’t find any combination that gave us the data we wanted, but one side effect of the experiment was that it illuminated a cloaked ship standing off from us by a few thousand miles!

It was not a Romulan ship, or at least not one in our database. It was also very small, likely carrying a crew of only 20 or so. I ordered a weapons lock on the ship, and it quickly turned and fled when we got a hard lock.

I would love to have chased it down and taken it to see who they were and why they were watching us, but if I had the wormhole would likely have collapsed trapping my people on the other side. That is something that I will never do. I’ve lost too many good people to add to that list.

Anyway with the effects of the cloaked ship removed and us producing a strong warp bubble on the backside of it, the wormhole has slowed. I think the danger of it passing into Romulan space has now passed, but if that ship returns it could again disrupt the hole and endanger my people. For this reason I will not lengthen the timeline for the away team, unless they request it.

I just hope they are all safe in that strange world.

As a side note, the local network on that alternate Earth seems to have slowed dramatically. I just wonder why?
