Captains Log 11
Star Date 10250.3
It has been a busy time on the Freedom. We have given over the prize ships, but when we met with the supply ship, I discovered to my horror that the diplomat that was assigned to do the negotiation was not able to meet with the ship. I was informed that I was expected to take up the mission of negotiations with the local Big Man for more space for the Federation supply depot!
I also needed to reprimand Mr. Dammers for his friendly fire accident on the bridge. He seemed unhappy, but that could be from several fronts. But then again maybe it was the fact I used the occasion as a chance to blow off steam.
My daughter has been avoiding me, working back to back shifts rebuilding the sickbay. I understand the real reason underlying that hard work, and will wait for her to come to me to talk. It is hard to have those you trust betray that trust. I know. Ive been there, and lost thirty years of my life for such.
Negotiations had never been one of my strong points, but I was willing try. I have always been a very good card player, and things have gone well so far. The Big Man is just that, a very big man, as well as being the leader of the people of Mynesia. While the majority of the food at his table was dead, I was able to tolerate some of it, and the live monkey brains were most tasty.
Well the pleasantries are over, so now we get down to the nuts and bolts of the negotiations. He wants 12 antimatter generators for the 30 square miles of space I am asking for, and I am only willing to offer 2 and really only need about 10 square miles. Seems we have a long way to go, and this cursed newfangled uniform is binding me in all the wrong places. Now if that drum music would stop, I could concentrate on trying to guess at what cards he has in his hand.
