Captains Log 10
Star Date 10180.3
The situation with my son has come to a somewhat satisfying conclusion. We are unharmed, I have my children and Cosmos back. If there is one thing that I regret out of the situation, other than the obvious, it is that I never got the chance to discover why the boy tried to kill us. Was it on Corps orders, or was he just being malicious. I now likely will never know.
I am still unclear on many of the details of what transpired after we were boarded; owing to the mirror Kzins weapons, for that is who they must be. I have checked the records and the same temporal abnormalities that were recorded when the captain and officers of the old Enterprise went into the mirror universe were recorded here. I still remember being fascinated with that log when I was a cadet serving on that venerable old lady. The readings were also similar to those recorded when my boy tried to kill us all by pushing the Freedom into that mirror universe with the MIBs.
I also noticed that the scanner logs recorded that we had a lock on Cosmos chair and for some reason Lera failed to report it. I have copied the log and will call her in and ask why soon, but I intend to review her service record again before I do.
I was also unable to commend Mr. Dammers as he is responsible for a friendly fire death. I will not prosecute him for the action as I was there and saw the situation, but I cannot commend him either.
I digress. We were just about out of ideas on how to bring the boys ship out of cloak when Mr. Dammers got a lock and was able to disable the target ship. I was preparing to order boarding parties, when the mirror Kzin decloaked and attacked. I didnt know who they were at the time and ordered self-destruct when they started boarding to keep this ship and crew out of the paws of the Kzin. I wasnt going to go through that again, nor was I willing to let this crew end up as my last.
I must admit I was confused when the reports started coming back that the boarders were female and using nonlethal attacks, but had no time to ponder as we were attacked in short order on the bridge. We tried to fight them off, but the gas was too much for most of the crew. It even made me woozy and caused me to see things, but I have a clear memory of seeing myself looking fit and well standing at the bridge door.
The mirror Kzin returned our people, and luckily Lynx was able to bring us around in time to stop the self-destruct.
To tell the truth, I really want to retire now after what I have done. I worry how my Lynx feels about what I was forced to do, but I dont see that I had any choice. Perhaps she feels the same way, but only time and words we have not had time to speak will tell.
Goddess I am a bad mother. I cant bring my own children up and one goes very bad, then I am forced to try to kill them both. What a terrible universe we live in. Had I had the chance, I might have begged my doppelganger to take me with her, and I would have liked to have asked her what she wanted with my boy, but I had no chance.
Anyway, in the here and now I may get my paws slapped, but I have forwarded my findings with a copy of my official log and the remains of the three Kzin ships to my old friend and classmate Admiral Ackbarr at the shipyards on Mars. The report and the ships are locked under the highest security seals available to me. I also transmitted copies to both admirals Ackbarr and Ironbottom, but consider this situation so critical that I didnt want my report to spend time wasting away on someones desk on the starbase. I also dont know if The Corps could be intercepting my electronic dispatches considering I have found their software on my PADD. I am fairly sure old Ackbarr isnt involved with them, but with several copies of my report going several different directions they may have problems stopping all of them from getting through.
I have also ordered commendations for my senior staff with the exception of Lera, Brundle, and Dammers for their handling of the situation, and the three prize ships should go a long way toward this.
Sadly I have been forced to send Mr. Brundle off for the good of the ship. Aside from the trouble he has caused in the past for Mr. Lee, and myself I was able to determine that he was the one that ordered the number 4 shield dropped to beam down his glider. Sad, but what can you do? Now that Sick Puppy is under new management, perhaps he will get the care he needs and make a recovery.
We also received new orders to postpone our salvage operations on the Zenith Triad. We are to make all possible speed to meet with a supply ship and take on a diplomat, then transport him to his destination. We will then return to the Triad salvage operation after our delivery.
