Wow, have I been busy lately. To start off, the Christmas Play went off without a hitch. God moved and it was truly rewarding for the play to have been so well received, and people continued talking about the play until March. Next on the slate was "Focus on Your Family" which took place in January and Febuary.
I participated as part of a small group in Freeman, Missouri, and was pleased to meet some new friends that I didn't already know. I was also priveledged to be able to do three skits for the six-week program. The first was one I had written three years ago called, "The Five Love Languages." It's a humorous look at what can go wrong when a bumbling husband tries to get the fruits of a book in a few moments. My Sunday School teacher and his wife volunteered to act in this skit, and for their first time ever acting, they did really great.
The second skit we did for the fourth week, and it was one I wrote last summer. It's strange how you get a great idea for a skit, and then it just seems to fall into place when you least expect it. The second skit was based around a family playing Monopoly on a family night. I ended up having to act in this one, and it's about the most nervous I've ever been.
The third skit we did in week five, and a friend and myself did that one. I wrote it for the program, and it was called, "A Chance Meeting," where the demon Legalism meets the demon Lawlessness at the church where things have been changing. That one I have a DVD of. To me, it was my favorite of the three, and now I have three skits that can be part of a compiliation for sale.
Hard on the heels of that was practice for our Easter Program. I tweaked a play given us that was done in the 1930's for length and language change, and had to make one character with a lot of dialogue called the Evangelist into two characters, Evangelist and Witness. I ended up playing the part of Disciple #4, which had one paragraph of lines. I got very sick the week before the play, and so the play is sort of a blur to me. I remember two things - that my throat was very dry, and that when I helped another actress sing a song, the Holy Spirit moved throughout the church and tingles ran up and down my back.
The book I'm writing is about two fifths of the way done. It's very rough and will require some polishing. A two act play that I wrote last summer has been polished and made professional. I've given it to the person in charge of the youth, and am waiting to see what he thinks and whether we would be able to put on the play by early August, using mostly the youth.
The play originated as a skit I wrote for a VBS in 1996 which was 13 minutes long. I've extended that part and added a first Act where the youth are still at the camp, awaiting their time to go home. If we decide to do the play, and the church likes it, I may not sell it, and instead will keep it as a church play, which in the summer the youth can turn into an outreach throughout the district.
The Easter play has been over for three weeks, and I've been enjoying the hiatus. But soon it will hopefully be time to gear up for the summer play and write a skit for performance later this month. I'm waiting to find out what the Pastor is going to be preaching on that weekend. In the meantime, I've finished another Two Act Play, this one for Christmas. It's called a Downsized Christmas, and it's in rough state right now. I'm hoping that I'll be able to do it next Christmas.
I have plenty of time to get that polished, and so I'm gong to be working on the book again. I'm also going to be following up on the preliminary research I've done for the Easter play I want to write, and will most likely be working on getting an outline for that play done soon.
Somewhere in all that I joined the church at the end of last month. God is wanting me to take a bigger role than just being the "Drama Guy."
I've found that the closer I grow with God, the more special each person's salvation story is. I've written mine down and it stands on this site as my testimony. But I would like to hear from some of you who are willing to share your story. Just put it in the best words you know how, and include a picture of yourself and/or your family, and I will get a page going for those who reply to this.
So if you have a testimony and a picture that you wouldn't mind sharing, or prayers or comments, send them to the email address listed below. In the Subject line, put "Reply to your Website" so I don't accidentally delete it because I'm not sure who it's from.
The news archives are still being kept. You can find them here.
Walking in His Will is very pleased to include The Good Shepard Webring and the Lamb of God Webring in it's list of Webrings below. I have checked both out and they are run by a God-fearing person and of the person's websites I have examined on these rings, they should be a blessing to believers. Give them a check when you are finished looking at this site, and also check out the other webrings I am proud to be considered a member of. And, if you have a webring that you would like for me to add after consideration, please send me an email with the information for your webring at [email protected] or click on the blue email link near the bottom of this page.
Don't forget about One Place, a place where you can hear all your favorite christian radio programs at one place on the internet. Check it out sometime, I think you will really like it. You can find it under the Links section.
