GuideLines for the Science Fair Research Paper

1.  The due date for this paper will be January 9, 2008. You may NOT use a pass to excuse this assignment.

2.  The paper must be typed, no larger than a 14 font, double spaced, (between lines and not words) using either Times New Roman or Arial font.

3.  If you are doing the project by yourself, your paper will need to be at least 3 pages in length with 3 sources. If you are doing a group project, your paper will need to be 4 pages in length with 4 sources.

4.  You will need to have a cover page with your name, teacher's name, period, date and title of our science fair project. You will need a bibliography page with your sources cited correctly.

5.  You
MUST use spell check and please have someone else read your paper for spelling and grammar errors.

6.  You will need an introductory and concluding paragraph. Use the templates below to construct your paragraphs.

Introductory Paragraph:            SCIENCE PAGE

      For my science project, I am designing an experiment to find out ___________________
_________________________. I am conducting this experiment because _________________
______________________.  My research contains ________________________. (this part should be about 2 or 3 sentences).

Concluding Paragraph:                
SCIENCE FAIR PAGE

      (For the first sentence, you will restate your original problem.) Based on my research I think __________________________ because ___________________________. (give two or three reasons to back up your statement/hypothesis)

***Before you turn in your paper, use the following check list to make sure you have everything completed:

1.  Cover Page           
2.   Written Report (3 pgs for individual & 4 pgs for group projects)  
      a.  Introductory paragraph (use above template)
      b.  Minimum 4-5 body paragraphs on the topic
      c.  Concluding paragraph (use above template)
3.  Bibliography page
4.  Double check your spelling, grammar, font size and type, & does your paper make sense.
