| 12/11/2001: Proposed change in Training format Hi Folks, Firstly, thanks to all of you that have been coming down to training these past few weeks. We are getting a terrific turn-out and if you know of any others interested in playing please encourage them to come along. More players means more competition and should improve the standards all around. Since the team training times are limited to just a few hours a week, a number of the players have been suggesting ways of improving the use of the training times. REGARDLESS OF YOUR STANDARD, we would like to make sure that everybody who comes to training has an opportunity to work on improving some aspect of their game. In response to these suggestions, training sessions for the rest of this term will adhere to the following structure: COURT 1 (Upstairs court) This court will be used for 9 point matches, on a first come, first served basis. COURT 2 (Downstairs) COURT 2 will be available to all TEAM 3, 4, 5 and non-team players. All matches on COURT 2 will be played to 9 points and will be refereed by players from TEAM 1 or TEAM 2. Players can raise issues concerning technique and/or strategy with the referee after each match. COURT 3 (Downstairs) COURT 3 will be available to all TEAM 1 & TEAM 2 players. Matches will be played to 9 points. When appropriate this court will be used for drills. The aim behind this organisation is to allow players, of all standards, the opportunity to improve their game. If you just want to play for fun you are still very welcome to play and a court has been set aside for just that purpose. If, on the other hand, you would like to do learn about ways to improve your technique or how to develop a playing strategy that exploits your opponents weaknesses, then a court has been set aside for that purpose as well. This format will be run on a trial basis until the end of term and we hope that it will benefit all concerned. Please let me know your thoughts and suggestions on the new format over the coming weeks. 24/10/2000: T-shirts and Kit Dear all, The budget meeting just concluded about 1/2 hr ago, and knowing that everyone loves the Squash team shirts, I am going to make this long-awaited announcement regarding this matter. We will be ordering 2 kinds of attire this year, a polo tshirt (grey for BUSA players, and Black for all others) as well as hooded sweatshirts (conveniently called hoodies, coming in grey and navy, up to the individual, subject to changes) First of all, I will soon need to take sizes, and thus, for all those really interested, Come down to the squash courts on thursday 5-7 and look for me with you orders and cash payments. Alternatively, you could email me with your sizes and choices, then pay me at the earliest opportunity. If you want to see samples, I suggest coming down to the squash courts on the suggested day. Now prices. For shirts, the club will be heavily subsidising them. 1. Shirts with LSE logo, sponsorship logo and the words, LSE Squash team - 5 pounds 2. Hoodies with LSE logo, sponsorship logo and the words clearly behind - 9 pounds 3. For players who want to get both, we will be charging 12 pounds. All these are subjected to changes...though they will be minimal. I will be placing a list on the squash notice board for players to fill in their sizes and orders, so check there ASAP Cheers all ze Captain eK |
