| 22/11/2000 : LSE 1st 2 : 3 KCL (BUSA) 3.30 pm Fresh from a string of victories, our boys were beginning to feel invincible. 22nd of November proved to be a day of reckoning for the LSE 1sts. At 3.20 pm, the lads from Kings appeared looking quite ordinary...except that we seemed to have played them before. Memories of the 2nd team's disappointing defeat last year at their hands began to come back. At 3.45, the first match kicked off with Will facing King's 4th seed, this nice indian chap with a perpetual smile on his face. They tested each other out in the opening exchanged with each drawing an equal amount of sweat from the other. Will, however, had been suffering from a severe squash burnout and without his form, he lost the match without taking a game...not a good start. eK was up next, and he faced an ex-national junior trainee from Singapore. Starting off fiercely, eK took the game 9 - 3 without sweating much and causing some worried looks on the faces of the KCL lads. However, he could not sustain the heat and lost the remaining three before coming out of the court completely drained of stamina. The most painful thing was that the 4th set was lost in such close fashion , 7 - 9. What luck, KCL 2 - LSE 0. Aidan and Justin toyed with their respective opponents before dispatching them in confident fashion. Not bad, hope was back as the score was tied at 2 - 2. Our last man, Tom, unluckily could not help us pull off the great escape as he lost the rubber 1 - 3 to KCL's 5th player. But who could blame him? He had just played a match for the 2nd's an hour earlier!! Better luck next time boys E.K 22/11/2000 : LSE 2nd 2 : 3 Reading (BUSA) 2 pm No summary as yet |
