As normal, cricket was ruined by Shoscombe's inability to play cricket the way it should be played.

LSCC post a competitive total, on a small pitch, of 249-3 off their 40 overs with all batsmen making a contribution and Gregory making 102 not out.

However, Shoscombe's effort to chase down a total of more than 6 runs an over was met with a meagre two singles an over and the occasional sweep for four. After 22 overs they had meandered to 60 odd now requiring in excess of 10 an over and still failed to go after the bowling. The game turned into a farce due to Shoscombe willingness not to go for victory.

What is the point in playing if they do not want to win I hear you cry?

What is the point in playing a team that thinks backing up excessively is better than hitting boundaries?

We have had some lacklustre opposition this year, but Sunday's match meant that although Shoscombe lost the match, cricket was the true loser.

Who's up for playing Marshfield every week next year?
