Routine win for LSCC

An impressive performance with the bat ensured an easy victory for LSCC in their most recent fixture against Shoscombe.

Tim Smith got the pick of the innings with a virtuoso 59 including five mammoth sixes. Also keeping the scorers busy were Nick Twist with 26, Craig Underdown with 30 not out, Tom Hannell with 20 and a welcome return to form from Nick Gregory with a speedy 33.

Unfortuneatly Simon Richards could not mark his comeback after a two year absence with any score of note and he was joined by his brothers in failing to make an impression, indeed Peter Richards was given the dubious honour of being kit-boy.

Shoscombe's innings got off to a good start with their openers looking like they meant business. A clever bowling change from skipper Hannell however broke the deadlock through the trustworthy bowling of Mark Tyrie.

Once the opening partnership was cracked there was little else in the order to suggest they could improve upon LSCC's score of 215, and when their dangerman Grubb was retired hurt there seemed only one outcome.

LSCC failed to bowl out the opposition and had a frustrating but ultimately successful end to the proceedings. LSCC won by a commanding 99 runs.

Full marks to LSCC for responding well to skipper Hannell's rallying cry before the game and congratulations to Tim Smith on becoming a father for the first time.
