LSCC v Seend CC at the MCCG

A fine performance from the Limpey batsmen set up a convincing victory against the eccentric folk from Seend.

First we had Manboobs who emerged with figures of 8 overs 49 runs 0 wickets. Seend were suffering from a lack of support and we're not just talking about the opening bowlers breasts. Twisty and Smithy took them to the cleaners, Manboobs opening partner Suicidal Sid being hit for 73 off 8 for 0. Before the first wicket fell LSCC had reached 132 and Smithy and Twisty were the perfect duo which is more than can be said for the goings-on beneath the opening bowlers T-shirt.

Smithy was first to fall caught Clarke off the bowling of King. Gregory entered the fray and reached his average of 19 having looked in fine touch. Richards S replaced Gregory and once again fell cheaply this time to the bowling of Wallis P (Suicidal Sid's Dad). Twisty completed a magnificent century before being caught King off the bowling of Wallis D (Suicidal Sid's brother). Bush depressed the away team further with a string of boundaries and the rope around Suicidal Sid's throat grew even tighter. Tyrie and Hannell completed the 9 man innings with some handy boundaries and sensible running between the wickets. Limpley reached 257 for 8, all out.

Tea was provided by Gemma and very tasty it was too.

The Seend innings began with Hannell bowling from the Limpley Stoke end. Hannell with his customary action strode in and delivered a full length ball. Wallis T struck the ball cleanly but in the air to Bush at mid-off. Bush took his opportunity and held on dismissing Wallis T first ball of the innings. Wallis T was despondant. He hung around the wicket for a good thirty seconds not quite believing his fate, but reality struck and he trudged from the pitch, very slowly. When he reached the boundary he paused, clearly deep in thought. This was it, his day of reckoning and he had failed, how could he face his team mates again. Surely it would be better if he didn't exist? Wallis T was last seen heading for the railway track, another victim of our nation's sordid thirst for success.

Fortunately there were no other dramatic events during the Seend innings apart from the height of one of their batsmens trousers which caused some amusement and impersonation among the fielding side. Seend all out for 57.

LSCC win agian, MOTM Twisty, kit-boy Owen for his golden and a 200 run victory margin the biggest in living memory.
