With the excitement caused by England's famous victory against the Aussies still tangible in the LSCC dressing room, Limpley took the field in bouyant mood. For Steve Harmison swap Mark Tyrie as he steamed in enjoying the hard pitch and favourable conditions. At the other end was our very own Ashley Giles in the shape of Tom Hannell. Both were expensive as the youngsters of Marshfield were a step up in class compared to recent opponents. The wickets however were falling as Marshfields naivety and aggressive approach left them prone to nicking to Unders behind the wicket who was in fine form. Elder was first change and was the pick of the Limpley bowlers picking up 4 wickets. Marshfield however kept the scoreboard ticking over and reached 213 assisted by a sensible Whitey innings, some generous fielding and a couple of good catching opportunities that went begging. Limpley still felt 213 was achievable, particularly if they didn't give each other out LBW.

Twist opened with Richards A who fell early. Gregory entered the field and was in fine touch accumulating runs quickly. This excellent partnership pushed the score onto 114 before Jimmer gave Twisty out LBW. Nick Gregory ironically was caught Nick Gregory on 44. The pressure was now on as the run rate started to slip, Limpley's middle order had to perform. Clark made his first appearance of the season and looked rusty gaining one run before being bowled. Richards S reached 17 before being caught going for the big one and Owen too was caught. Limpley's running between the wickets verged on the suicidal and Jimmer was run out following another comedy misunderstanding. Unders and Hannell provided a bit of excitement as the target came close but it was ultimately just beyond them.
