LSCC scrape through against a depleted Hinton Skipper Hannell guided Limpley to victory against a depleted Hinton in LSCC's latest fixture. LSCC however made hard work of their victory on an eratic wicket. LSCC's closest rivals were put into bat and proceeded to make a confident start. Hinton arrived at fortress Monkton with only nine players but the late withdrawl of Nick Gregory evened the numbers up. Nick it seemed was struggling with a mystery virus and at one stage was found curled up in the foetal position in the home changing room. Progress for the away team was slow with the wicket proving to be of great assistance to the bowlers. Hinton did manage to reach thirty without loss, that was until the introduction of Tyrie who bowled aggressively all day. He got the vital breakthrough in his first over and continued with a fine display of medium pace bowling. Hannell bamboozled the opposition and looked dangerous with the pitch proving a useful ally. Hannell, Tyrie and Bush with a clever spell of bowling took two wickets each which was enough to keep the Hinton score at 99 and within easy reach of the LSCC batsmen. LSCC got off to a solid but slow start with the bat. Runs on this wicket were hard to come by, indeed by the fourteenth over they were still only 26 for 2. Kendall and Simon Richards lost their wickets cheaply and the target of 100 was looking increasingly beyond reach. Enter JC with a commanding 34 to steady the home team's nerves. He was given good support by Alex Richards, Bush and Hannell. Hannell struck three fours in quick succession to secure the win and spare LSCC's blushes. JC man of the match, LSCC win by 2 wickets.
