After initial opponents St Stephens had cried off earlier in the week, new opponents in the form of Hampset's Development side was the mountain in the way for Limpley Stoke to climb on a beautiful sunny Sunday. Sadly the mountain was more of a long barrow with Hampset's side containing only three adults.

Limpley lost the toss and the opposition elected to bat. Twist and Hannell opened the bowling in suffocating conditions and bowled well and reduced the opposition to 40 for 6, it was good to see Tom Hannell back in the wickets after an indifferent season last term, picking up 4 wickets. From then it was only a matter of time before Limpley Stoke bowled out their opposition, as Hampset's batting line was young and inexperienced, they were eventually out for 88 with only their captain and young opening bat making any impression on the score sheet. It was good to see Limpley Stoke holding their catches, and some very good ones at that and a tidy performance behind the stumps from Underdown, including a stumping of the seam bowling of Hannell, rounded off a satisfactory fielding performance.

Special note to Captain Nick Gregory's bowling performance, taking all the three Hampset under-11 players' wickets in a very unsporting spell.

With such a low total to chase the batting order was revised and Smith and Wilson opened, both were out cheaply trying to slog. From their it was one way traffic as Bush and Clarke blasted the ball around the park as Limpley Stoke knocked off the 89 runs to win in very little time at all. Bush finished 27 not out and Man of the Match Clarke was 38 not out.

Limpley Stoke won by 8 wickets with 25 plus overs to spare, a good tea by Clarke and Gregory and Wilson picked up his second kit-boy of the season.
