Limpley Stand Firm (while Owen slips up)

The captains tossed as the sky cleared and Limpley were given first use of the still slightly damp wicket. The opening bowlers were fairly lively but Twist seemed unperturbed and made a decent 38. Richards A was not in such good touch but luckily for him his blushes were spared by Wilson making a rather inglorious duck and walking away with the title of 'kitboy'.

Gregory made a (now typical?) thirty odd (33) before being run-out. Smith, clearly revelling in his middle order role held the innings together with a swift 56. Limpley finished on 176-8, a gettable target.

The match was won by some excellent bowling which was backed up by some unusually sharp fielding. It was the best fielding display by Limpley that I had ever witnessed. Norris held on to a screamer low down at mid off and then capped it with the man of the match performance with the ball. He returned figures of 4-16, which included the wicket of the dangerous Dorgan J who, after some lusty blows, was eventually caught behind for 64.

Tyrie did well to overcome his 'Boswellian' start to return figures of 3-12. Erlstoke's young off spinner Dorgan T also deserves a mention. Tea was well made by Richards A.

In truth Limpley were always looking like winners with wickets falling a regular intervals, it got quite close while Erlstoke's danger man was at the crease but the team held it's nerve to record another victory.

That makes it 3 out of 3 now and there's not a whiff of s*** about the team. Can the high standard be taken forward to this weekend's double header?
