This battle of the "Stoke's" turned out to be anything but as Limpley were blown away by Bob Willis' bastard offspring and his ten year old younger brother. Still it was a nice day and it was a good job Skipper put us in to field first or it could have been a very short afternoon. They scored 200 odd and made full use of the boundary walls which were thudded against on a regular basis. Pete safely took a couple of tricky catches and was the outstanding performer in the field. Noone bowled badly but all took some punishment against two or three of their classy batsmen. Limpley's turn and they were unable to offer serious resistance against a pace attack unlike anything they come across on the village cricket circuit. This was men against boys, except it was the boys from Earlstoke putting the men from Limpley through the mill and spitting them out at the other end like they had just had an encounter with something very quick indeed. Anyway it was a fun day out, I was kitboy and Pete was MOTM, so a typically mixed day for the Richards boys. What price a swap with Earlstokes Drogan brothers? Simon Richards |
