Vs. Corsley 30th May 2005

Result – LSCC won by 7 wickets; MOTM Ed Gay; Kit Boy Richards S; Tea Duty Tyrie.

A strong LSCC XI took to the field against a Corsley team who just weren’t up to the challenge as a one sided afternoon was played out.

Corsley won the toss and elected to bat and it wasn’t long before they regretted it when Hannell snapped up 3 wickets in his 8 over opening spell. He was ably supported by Tyrie who bowled economically before being replaced by Ed Gay, making his debut for the season. Ed bowled quickly and caused the batsmen plenty of bother and finished his spell with a triple wicket maiden and a wicket maiden. This left Corsley hovering at 90 odd for 7 with still over 10 overs to face, they did play out the overs but managed only a further 20 runs with some great “death” bowling by Gregory, Tyrie and Howie who all finished with sub two run economy rates. Tryie, Richards A and Howie finished off the last 3 Corsley batsmen, Howie taking his first wicket for LSCC, to leave Corsley all out for 117.

After a two filling choice tea LSCC was intent on putting the meagre target to bed in 20 overs to make full use of the bank holiday weekend. Twist and Smith opened and it wasn’t long before Smith was punishing the Corsley bowlers with an array of classy 4s all around the wicket. Smith was unluckily out, playing on for a quick fire 45 which laid the foundations for a quick win. Twist, 47 not out, took over the mantle, hitting some big sixes to bring LSCC home before the 20 over mark. Gregory chipped in with 13 after Richards S made a duck and Bush hit the winning runs in a convincing display.
