Pig Shows

Below is a list and explanation of the different pig shows we offer here at the LSAPC. The shows are judged about every 2-4 weeks. Please make sure that you read them carefully before entering the shows!

Open Show
The Open Show is essentially a conformation show for pigs. Currently pigs are divided by breed. When you enter your pig you must submit a picture of your full grown pig in a show pose with the head either facing to the side or towards the camera. Please do not enter more than four pigs per gender per show. The judges will judge the pigs based on how well they fit the LSAPC breed standard which reflects the real life breed standard.

Open Show Judging

The judge will carefully look over each entry and award a BIS (Best in Show). Going back over the opposite gender again the judge decides on a BOS (Best of Opposite Sex) pig. There must be at least two pigs of the opposite gender in order for a BOS to be awarded. If there is a certain amount of entries of pigs AOM (Award of Merit) placements are given out. The show results will then be posted in the forum.

Open Show Award of Merits
The number of AOM placements are determined by how many entries there are in a show. These numbers are the total of all the entrants in one breed. When written on show results there is no order and their gender does not matter.
6-10 - one AOM
11-15 - two AOMs
16-20 - three AOMs
20-30 - four AOMs
31+ - five AOMs

Open Show Points
You must keep track of your pigs' points yourself, but all the old show results will be archived on the forum and website to make it easier for you. The points awarded for open shows are as follows:
BIS - 5
BOS - 4
AOM - 2

Classics
Classics are big shows that have several classes that you may enter. You may enter any or all of these classes. The classes are all judged separately. You are allowed unlimited entries. The following is an explanation of the rules and judging for each class.

-Conformation: Same rules/judging as the Open Show (listed above), except that you are allowed unlimited entries.

-Brace: The brace class is for a pair of full grown pigs (gender does not matter). Both pigs must be registered and must be of the same breed. Ideally, the pigs' coloring/markings are somewhat similar. Both pigs must be in a show pose (the poses may be different styles). The pictures must be merged together into one picture, but may NOT overlap. The entrants are judged as a combination of BOTH the pigs' conformation along with the overall appearance of the brace. The judge will award the Best Brace and a Reserve. There must be at least three entries in a class in order to award a Reserve. If there is only one brace they will win a DW (Default Winner) and no points.

-Progeny: This class is for either a boar or a sow with ONE of his/her progeny. Ideally, the pigs' coloring/markings are somewhat similar. The progeny can either be either a piglet or full grown, but must be registered. The parent must be full grown. The age of the progeny will have no impact on the judging. Both pigs must be in show poses, although the pose styles may be different. The pictures must be merged together into one picture, but may NOT overlap. The entrants are judged as a combination of BOTH the parent and the progeny's conformation, along with the overall appearance of the pair. The judge will award the Best Boar, Reserve Boar, Best Sow, and Reserve Sow. If there is only one progeny entry (of either gender) they will win a DW (Default Winner) and no points.

-Baby Conformation: This class is for pigs who are not yet full grown. It follows the same rules/judging as the Open Show (listed above), except that the pigs are not full grown and you are allowed unlimited entries.

-Champions Competition: Only LSAPC pig champions that have proof (list on LSAPC site) are allowed to compete in this class. Pigs are judged similar to those in the Open Show format though the wins go towards their GrCH title and do not effect any non-champion pig.
