To My Valentine

Our eyes met for the first time last year,

And there was instant recognition of spirits, like peers,

Perhaps we had been together in our past lives.

Why did I feel like I’d known you for a lifetime?

Too cautious to touch, at first we were,

Yet electrical sparks flew everywhere.

We talked for hours, even with our lips shut,

Unspoken words exchanged through gazes we couldn’t stop.

Like hand and glove we fitted comfortably.

Soon enough we relaxed in each other’s company,

As if a cloud sailed by and cradled us both,

We came to know the meaning of soul mates thereof.

Could it be? Friends said, so full of doubt.

Evenyou and I could not fathom just how,

But we’re so sure, they found it hard to believe,

The voice of love you and I had to heed.

So we exchanged our vows eight months after that:
A commitment to love til death do us part,

Or possibly beyond, forever, eternal,

Unbound by anything that is material.

Five months together, now it already seems,

All tests of faith, life threatens to bring.

Rest assured that my heart is not shaken a bit.

When you’re weak, let me be the air that you breathe.

Let me be your rock when your kneew start to wobble,

A fortress when your spirit tends to crumble.

A woman I am, physically weak, but don’t fear,

I am made strong by my love for you, my dear.

For now, life without you I can never imagine,

I would surely walk like a dead among the living.

Your love is the fire that keeps my soul aglow,

I thank God for you, I LOVE YOU, you know?
