Hello, I was searching a few family names and then decided to go a little further back and put in Corbett. It was my great-grandmother's maiden name. She came to Ontario from Ireland with her husband and children-(my grandmother was one of them & she is 9 yrs. old now and doing great) in the 20's. My Great-Great Grandfather's name was Andrew Corbett.Several years back my grandmother was contacted by Howard Corbett who lives in the Toronto,ON.Canada area. He said that his Great-Grandfather,David, was Andre 's brother.Another brother was James. David came to Canada in 1859 and settled in Innisfil,ON. he said.Andrew stayed in Ireland. Howard obtained my grandmother's name from the Lamont family who live around the Belfast area in Ireland.Maybe they can help y u. I am not sure if there is a connection between Howard & my family and yours but I hope this little bit of info has helped in some way. From P. Leslie, British Columbia, CAN.

Hi...tried to find your email on your page but couldn't so I'll write here. Am tracing my husband's genealogy. His mother is Greta Bergh from Elmira, NY. Her father was Clifford Albert Bergh, son of Arthur Bergh. We don't know Arthur's father's name. The amily was in and around the PA/NY area. I find it very interesting that you also have a Cummings as my husband's mother was the daughter of Clifford Bergh and Beulah Mae Cummings. So you see why your info interests me so much. I'd like to make contact and see if either of us has info that we might share. I don't have much...but what I have I willingly share. Thanks... Nancy

Post Script to my previous mesage; If there are any Corbett's wishing to know further information about their lineage in England, the county of Shropshire is the place to start. Shropshire City Town Hall Public Records Office will, I am sure, have plenty of information dating I think from ing Henry (Tudor) VIII's time onwards on the Corbett's. There is also an area within the bordering of Shropshire called 'Moreton-Corbet' this is one of the strongest seats of the Corbet/Corbett family of Shropshire, England. Also a place in mid-wales call d Twyn (Pronounced = Towe-win) in Aberystwth - Wales. There house was called - Ennys-Mean-Gwyn - which means Island of the White Stones. It was a spacious stone built pile in a lartge estate of lands, but has since been demolished due to natural deralicti n over the centuries. Sir Vincent Corbett and his wife Lady Anne were I have been told the last Corbetts to reside at 'The Island of the White Stones'. Hope this information may be of assistance to anyone seeking same. Respectful Regards. Vincent Corbett - Shropshire - England - U.K.

Hi; By sheer accident I found your web page whilst surfing the night one quiet night here in dull, wet Shropshire, England. I was quite suprised to read (with every respect) there are so many Corbett's in the 'Colonies'. My family line dates back (as you may be aware) directly to 1065 to England (Normans - Hastings) and pre 1065 to Normandy, before which we stemmed from Denmark. Our present days lives are nothing like the pre-edwardian Corbetts' of 'my lot' who were all crinoline and starched collars living in ther big fancy mansions of the Shropshire plains. But, all the same a proud and noble family and a name to be VERY proud f indeed. If I can ever be of any assistance to information regarding our shared family name, send me an email and I'll see what I can do, but I'm not history buff for sure. Cheerio from Shropshire. Maybe I will hear from you in the no too distant future. Respectful Regards, Vincent Corbett. 11th April, 2000ad.

You could add Wilfred Roy Corbett, U.E. (artist), to your list of famous Corbett's. His paintings are in collections around the world, such as Queen Elizabeth, and government offices. As his daughter I am semi-famous for my award winning photographic art & was elected to appear in "Who's Who" for my accomplishments in many areas; writing, song writing, poetry etc. If interested in more info, send an e-mail.

Searching for CORBETT's. LUKE CORBETT and wife BRIDGET KING, had three children that we know of: MICHAEL CORBETT, BRIDGET CORBETT, and our ancestor, PETER CORBETT. Family legend tells that PETER CORBETT's brother went to Minneapolis, MN and did not maintain contact with the fam ly. We are searching for this missing brother and his descendents. Peter and wife, MARGARET HOLLERAN/HALLORAN settled in Manchester, NH where they had a total of ten children, 7 survived. We have located all ten. The first two were born in Ireland, in Clifden, Co. Galway (BEDELIA and BRIDGET). Margaret's parents were OHN HOLLERAN/CATHERINE KING. John's father was JEREMIAH HOLLERAN, wife unknown. Margaret had two brothers that we know of JEREMIAH HOLLERAN and FESTUS HOLLERAN (lived in the Boston, Mass area), and a sister, MARY HOLLERAN who remained single and also li ed in Manchester, NH. Margaret's mother and father also immigrated abt. 1880 and settled in Manchester, NH where most of the family worked in the cotton mills. Please contact me directly at [email protected]

I have his discharge paper from the Civel war dated 1865. This is all that I know of this family. Obviously not part of your family as they were in U.S. at the time your family imigrated. May be this can be traced back and joined to your family overseas. Al
