Welcome to the 7th week of the LAST quarter in the 2008-2009 school year.

******************************************ANNOUNCEMENTS***********************************************

Only 3 weeks of class left before Final Exams.

Monday, May 25 is a school holiday

The semester II gradebook for Seniors will close on Tuesday, May 26

I will issue their grades to them when we return after Memorial Day

***********************************************************************************************************

Last week, we spent a lot of time learning how to balance chemical equations.  This is our last unit of the year.  We have enough time to do a pretty thorough job with this topic.  This week, we will discuss energy relationships in chemical reactions, and learn how to classify chemical reactions into 5 basic types that cover many of the commonly-seen chemical reactions.  We'll even have some time to cover a little stoichiometry (chapter 10) as we get close to Memorial Day.

But...There is lots to do and very little time to waste.

We'll be moving at a brisk pace--Be sure you keep up.

Encourage your student to work hard all the way to June 8

Chemical Reactions will be covered as part of the final exam.

The final exam will be 20 questions on new material (Chemical Reactions), and 80 questions distributed over the material from previous exams.  (20 from each exam)

I suggest students begin reviewing as soon as possible.

There is a ton of material to review.
