Old & New, In & Out of the Way
In July 2001 a reunion and tribute to Old and In the Way, a bluegrass ensemble which once included the late Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead, was held.  Mandolin virtuoso David Grisman, whose signed album HOT DAWG is shown here, played, along with Vasser Clements (fiddle- signature in blue) and Peter Rowan (guitar- black circular autograph).  Rowan joined Sea Train in 1969.
Pianist and Jazz Fusion keyboard pioneer Herbie Hancock is well known for his prolific recording as a leader for Columbia and Blue Note records, and hits like "Watermelon Man" and "Rockit." Some of his finest work shows up on numerous sessions credits.  So often did he assist on A&M-CTI projects that he rightfully can claim to be an alum of the label.  Shown here is a signed "1 + 1" disc (duo with Wayne Shorter on sax) obtained on 9-26-01.  Hancock performed a tribute show to honor what should have been the late Miles Davis and John Coltrane's 75th birthdays.
