| Proposed Project |
| In order to provide the greatest array of both academic and non-academic curriculum offerings in the most effective efficient manner possible, the Long Pine Continuing Education Center proposes to construct a new facility to house the envisioned community technological learning center, which will be located to the east of the present building. It is projected that a one-story, pole frame building containing 15,000 square feet could be constructed within six months at a cost and time frame that would be more cost- and time-efficient than renovating the existing building for such purposes. By obtaining sufficient funds for constructing and furnishing the proposed community technological learning center, it is feasible that this project could be a reality by the fall semester of 2002. The preliminary floor plans include space for meeting rooms, conference room, library, science lab, classrooms, distance learning classrooms, computer lab, office space, kitchen, storage and mechanical rooms, and restrooms. This facility can be used for classes, meetings, seminars, conferences, and workshops as well as special presentations. Space may also be rented for hosting various activities such as banquets, receptions, etc. Potential users of this facility will be individuals, organizations, agencies, businesses, and industries from local, regional, and state levels. The renovation of the existing building will be essential for the Long Pine Continuing Education Center to effectively and efficiently provide as many services and programs necessary for the residents within a 100-mile radius. Possible features for the renovated building include creating a health/wellness center, studio spaces and related classrooms for art programs, and additional rooms that can be utilized for meetings/conferences. Including some areas for office spaces that can be leased will also assist the Long Pine Continuing Education Center to find venues for becoming more self-sufficient in order to support its educational programs and services. |
