ALTTP Walkthrough Part VII: Dark World Level 1
Getting to Dark World Level 1:
Okay we are on the top of the Pyramid of Power, a seemingly unimportant place to dump Link off into the shadows. This place however has much more importance later in the game. For now it only holds a piece of heart.

To start off go down a flight off stairs, and jump off two platforms after that. Finally, head down a large flight of stairs. Once on the ground head east heading across a land bridge.

You are now in a pit of ground chunks, anyways head south, and then northeast into the ruins.

The ruins are very different looking then in the Light World, and much harder to navigate.

To start off head east until you see a white arrow, once you see it head into the shrubs its pointing at. To get through go north until you stop then left. Once out follow the second white arrow and head left around the back side of the building, until you reach a huge shrub with a hole in it. Stop, and continue into the small shrub next to it and head through its hole. You will now be on a path against the left rockface. From here head north until you see another hole in the large bush on its northwest corner on the left of it, go in and go east all the way through it. If you do it right a blue monkey will be following you. Pay him 10 ruppees and he will follow you. From here head north through the small bush. Then, east through another small bush nearby. You will see a multicolored path follow it east, and head north through a small bush to come upon a large building walk up the stairs, to activate a conversation with the monkey. Pay him 100 ruppees and he will open the building which is level 1. Now that level 1 is open save and walk through the door.


Dark World Level 1:
From the entrance of this level head right to the east door, make sure you hit the switch on the way to open the door. Once open head through the east door.

In this room there will be a fast hard headed monster, to get it out of you way hit it with one of the pots and it will die. Now that it can't hurt you head north down the stairs.

This room requires you to step on the warp panel so do so to warp to another room.

In this room go south and  plant a bomb on the cracked wall. In this hallway you will find 3 green jellyfish, which you must slash when they stop electricuting themselves. Once they are dead plant a bomb on the cracked wall at the other end of the hallway.

This room can be tricky but all you have to do is walk the enemies into your flying arrows from your bow. Once they are dead head through the north door.

In this room you need to head quickly up the path while avoiding the moving spikes, try to slash green and red jelly's out of your way too. Once all the way across the path head up the north stairs.

In this room slash all the red jelly's to get supplies, break all the skulls for more supplies, and bomb the walls on either sides to get a key on the left, and fairies on the right. Once you have gotten the key, supplies if needed, and fairies, head back down the south stairs.

You will once again have to dodge spikes, and slash jelly's out of your way so do so, and head through the south door.

In this room head through the south door.

Once in this hallway just head east and north through the north doorway.

Now move the middle block and step on the warp panel to warp back to the first warp room.

In the first warp room head up the north stairs.

Now that you are on the first floor again, head south and throw a pot at the enemie or avoid him. Now head through the south door, after hitting the switch under the northeast pot.

Okay, now that we are at the front entrance room we need to head throught the left door. Hit a switch to open it, and head through the west door.

Now you will see the same room you saw from the right door but you are now in a different part of it. Hit or avoid the enemie and head down the north stairs.

In here you will see two flame statues in the center of the room make sure to avoid their beams, at all costs. Lift the pot at the southwest corner to reveal a chest in the southeast corner, open the chest to get a second small key. Now head north up the north stairs.

Once up here make sure to hit the switch under the northwest pot to open the south door. Now head through the south door.

You are now once again in the main entrance room but, you have now narrowed the exploration to the middle door. Head through the middle door without doing anything.

Head north and tap the north door to unlock it. Now, head through the north door.

In this room head north to the left bridge and place a bomb on the cracks. Now jump in the hole that is revealed.

Once you land head north and unlock the door to the north to reveal the north stairs. Now head up the north stairs.

Head south and open the chest to get the Big Key. Now jump off the platform to the floor below.

Down here lift the skull next to alot of stone bricks in a line to reveal a switch hit it to reveal a chest, open the chest to recieve a small key, now lift all the skulls surrounding the warp panel and step into it.

You are now once again in the first warp room. Head up the north stairs to the floor above.

In this room once again hit the switch under the northeast skull, to open the south door. Now head through the south door.

Okay you are once again at the entrance room, and once again head through the middle door.

In this room head through the north door.

From the entrance of this room head north to the right bridge go all the way to the bricks and push the right one off, now continue to the other side of the bridge. Now, head through the north door.

In this room open the chest for another small key and jump off the north end of this ramp, to get to some stairs. Head up the stairs and go left, try to kill the blue enemie to prevent yourself from dieing. Head all the way to the end of the walkway and open the northwest door. Head through this door.

In this room lift the skulls and run down the path with your pegasus boots and don't worry about the enemies because they will most likely get slash as you run by. At the end of the path lift the skulls and open the left door. Now head through the left door.

In this room slash all the fire breathing enemies before they hit you and open the chest in the northwest for 3 bombs. Open the chest in the southeast for a small key. From the southeast chest head north to a cracked wall, bomb it and then walk through the door that is revealed.

In the next room open the large chest to get a Magic Hammer. Now head west into the previous room.

In here head north and go through the door at the northeast.

Now that your in the dissapearing catwalk room head through the east door.

In this room pull out your magic hammer to knock the turtle's onto their backs slash them before they get back up. Now open the chest to recieve a compass. Head down the northeast stairs.

Down here head south while avoiding the magic sucker, and open the chest at the far south to recieve a small key. Grab the blue ruppees if you like but it isn't really worth it. Open the chest on the southwest corner for some arrows. Head up the north stairs to the floor above.

Once back upstairs head south through the south door.

Once in here throw the skull to the west to get to the chest, then head south through the south door.

Once back in this room head to the center and jump at the arrow, to the middle platform. Make sure not to touch the enemies. Once they are dead hit the switch south of you with the boomerang or your bow. It will take down the blue barricades. Now head east through the now accessable east door.

In here lift all skulls, and move the northeastmost statue onto the top northeast switch to the right of the north door. Once done walk through the now open north door.

In this room shoot your arrows and walk the enemies into the line of fire. Once they are all dead head north through the north door.

Now you're in a room full of spikes, barricades, and crystals. First, avoid the spike and slash the crystal to remove the barricade. Once you have gotten past the barricade move directly in front of the green statue and shoot an arrow into the statues pupil. The wall will then move out considerably far, eventually revealing a staircase. Go down this east staircase to the floor below.

Down here you will have to hit the bouncing heads with your magic hammer and then hit the floor to kill the moving shells. Once the shells are dead hit the cystal switch once to knock down the red barricade then walk beyond it and it the crystal again with a sword beam, boomerang, or arrow to take down the blue barricade to get access to the locked west door. Now open the west door and head through it.

You are now traveling down a small corridor keep your hammer at your fingertips to kill the shell before it touches you. Now head through the south door.

This room is very challenging, continue to use your hammer if 2 or more shells get too close to you. Slash constantly if you are in no immeadiate danger. Once the shells are all gone head east through the east door.

This room is easy it has no enemies. All you have to do is go the the northeast block right above the east torch and move it west. Once done step on top of the warp panel.

In here you are on a once inaccessable walkway with 4 shells in 2 pairs patrolling it. Use your hammer to take them out then open the Boss Door with your Big Key and step on into the north door to take on the boss of the Level 1 Dark World Dungeon.

Level 1 Dark World Boss: Helmasaur King:
This boss is pretty simple despite is looks. The key to defeating him is in your hands the magic hammer. Strike him with the magic hammer until it cracks twice. After that continue Striking it until it falls off. After the Mask has fallen off pull out your bow and make sure to hit his green spot above his eyes. Shoot recklessly with the bow when his mask comes off because it will insure your survival. Shoot as many arrows as you can without shooting pointlessly.

After he is defeated grab the Heart Container, and grab the crystal to get some insite on what the heck you are actually trying to achieve.

Now that you are outside head south weaving in and out of big and small bushes. If you get stuck examine the bushes more closely and you will see holes and small trails on top which are a dead giveaway of where to go. Anyways incase you are really stuck i'll give a short summary walk through the bushes.

Head south through small bush, head west, go south through small bush, head west through small bush, head west, head west through large bush, come out northwest corner, head west through small bush, head south, head east through small bush, head east past back of building, head south past east side of building, head south through medium size bush, head south to rockface, head west along rockface, Head south out of this area.

From here head west into another area with large stone statues and pig soldiers, with a small dock at the waters edge. In between the statues lies 3x3 purple poles blocking your way. Hit these 9 purple poles with your magic hammer to clear the way. Continue heading south, and then west onto the next screen.

From here head west until you reach the platform in the center that looks identical to Links House in the Light World stop right in front of it, because Level 2 is only a few screens south of here.
