| ALTTP Walkthrough Part VIII: Dark World Level 2 | |||||||||
| Getting to Dark World Level 2: Now starting from where we left off in Part VII, we should be at the bomb shop in the Dark World that is cleverly placed where Link's House is in the Light World. If for some reason you are missing some hearts warp back to the Light World with your mirror. Doing this will take you to Link's House and it contains 3 hearts every time you go inside. Any ways as said before in Part VII Dungeon 2 is south of where we are so head south to the next screen. Once on this screen continue heading south onto the next screen. On this screen you will need to head west onto that screen. In the middle of this screen you will see a stone building that has an exact duplicate of it in the same place in the Light World. Climb onto the stone step of this building, and warp to the Light World. Once you appear in the Light World walk inside the building. When you come inside push the middle block against the chest and the side blocks away from the chest, one pushed left, the other pushed right. Now go through the north door. In here avoid the magic sucker, and pull the right switch out. This will drain the marsh. Now head south through the south door. Once here head through the south door in this room. Now that your outside step into the warp to get back to the Dark World. Now head through the door into Dark World Level 2! Dark World Level 2: Okay, so we're in Level 2 what to do? First, head to the broken stairs by swimming, and climb them. Now, avoid the spike and kill the 3 water spiders. Head north and open the chest for a Small Key. Now, head down the north stairs to the floor below. In here head to the middle of the room where the skulls are and lift the southern most one, of the four skulls to get a small key. Bomb the northeast cracked wall and head through it to get the Dungeon Map. Go back and open the southeast door in the previous room with your small key. Now, head through the southeast door. Kill or avoid the pink skeleton, the green jellyfish, and the red jelly fish, and try to avoid the fire. Afterwards head through the north door. In this room lift the skull to recieve a small key. Now, head through the south door. Back in this room head west, and open the northwest door with your small key. Now, head through the northwest door. This room has monsters but they really aren't in the way so avoid them. Hit the pegs with your magic hammer and go to the right side of the switch and walk left, this will push the lever, and open the floodgate. Don't waste bombs on the cracks because there isn't anything there. Now, head south through the south door. With the water, you can now reach the west door. Now, head through the west door. Now you are in the main core of the entire level things get pretty easy from here. Now, head south through the south door. Head south east though the southeast door. Head west then north though the northwest door. Now, head north and push the southern most block east to make a chest appear. Open, it to get the compass. Now, head north through the north door. Once again we're in the core room, now head through the southwest door. In here head west off the stairs, and then head north through the middle north door. Lift the skull to get a small key, and head south through the south door. From here, head east up the stairs, and through the east door leading to the core room. Now, in the core room head north and go through the north west door. Once, in here kill or avoid the monsters and hit the crystal with your boomerang and flip the switch by running into it. Now, head through the south door. Now that we're back in this room, head south and then west. Now, that there is water swim over to the west door. Now, head through the west door. Head west, off the stairs, and move over to the stone blocks, all you can do is move the blocks in this room. Move the southmost block west, and move the middle block north. Now head west, and up the stairs. Now, head up the north stairs to the floor above. Up here head north until you get to the north wall now you will see a hole on the both sides of the room. The left hole goes nowhere but a ruppee. The right hole takes you to an otherwise unreachable door. Jump down the right hole. You will end up having to go back a few screens to hit the Crystal Switch to take down that wall though. Go south one screen, east one screen, north one screen, in here hit the crystal switch. Now head east one screen. Head through southeast door, then through west door. Okay, now head west to the other end of the room and up the stairs. Once, up here head north to the far end of the room, and jump into the right hole. Now, head through the east door. Open the chest to recieve the Big Key. Now, head back through the west door. From here jump off the ledge, and head south. In here head east through the east door. Now, once in this room head east through the east door. Okay, we now have half the dungeon behind us now. We are in the dungeons core room, and so is the Dungeon item. Head to the middle of the room to recieve a Hookshot from the Big Chest. Head to the middle of the platform you're standing on and aim the Hookshot east to pull yourself to an east platform. On this platform lift the skull at the far end to recieve a small key. Now, jump off and head back onto the platform where you got the Hookshot. Once standing behind the chest aim your Hookshot north to get to the north platform. Now, unlock, and head through the north door. Head to the west side of the room, and lift the northwest skull. Now, move the statue north over the switch that's revealed. Now, head through the now open door on the east side of the room to the north, not the one that opened right in front of you. Don't head down the east stairs, head through the northeast door. Head north, and down the north stairs. From here push the lever west to lower the water level. Now, head west through the west door. In here head north through the north door. You are now in a huge room with waterfalls. Notice that the second waterfall from the left is dry and has a door right? Well, head through the second waterfall from the right because it too, has a door. In this room head up the north stairs to the floor above. Head south through the south door from the stairs. Swim against the current to the rightmost stairs with a skull sitting near them, lift it to get a small key. Swim to the middle stairs, and bomb the cracks for hearts if your low on them. Otherwise swim west to the westmost stairs and open the door there. Now head north through the northwest door. Head north through the north door, and ready yourself for the Dark World Level 2 Boss! Dark World Level 2 Boss: Arrghus At first Arrghus fill float around with bubbles covering him. Run to the safest distance away from him and pull a bubble away from him using the Hookshot, and slash it apart. Continue doing this until all the bubbles dissapear, then slash him as he begins running around, and after several times of doing that stage of the fight he will finally die. Also try to memorize where he runs because it is a constant pattern. Now, we have finished the second level of the Dark World. This is where things get interesting because now we can explore the entire Dark World, since we have access to all the items that unlock other areas of the Dark World. Anyways head north a few screens to the Bomb Shop. Now, that we have finished Dark World Level 2, we have the choice between Levels 3 and 4! I would suggest Level 4, first because it is easier to get to, easier to beat, and makes traveling in the Dark World alot easier, and faster. So choose which you want to do first and of course Level 3 will be Part IX, and Level 4 will be Part X! When you beat level 4, you will be able to pick between Level's 3,5, and 6 as long as you have the magic flute! How to get the Flute: Start from the Bomb Shop that's north of Dark World Level 2. Just a short way's west is a forest clearing that can only be entered from the south. Enter this and talk to the tree like person. He will tell you to dig up his flute under some flowers in the same forest clearing in the Light World. He will then give you his shovel. Warp to the Light World, and head to the northwest part of the forest clearing. Dig up ever flower, and under one is the flute. Now, head back through the warp to the dark world talk to the tree like person, then play the flute for him. He tells you to go to the Light World Kakariko Town. Warp to the Light World, then head northwest until you reach Kakariko Village, if you are confused look at your map! The building nearby the south Kakariko Village entrance is the bar, and it is surrounded by pots, and bushes. Inside is an old man near the entrance with a shiny head. Play the flute and he will tell you to take his son's steed with the birds. Now, leave the bar, and head west, then north up the pink path. Go straight up it until you reach a bird statue with north, west, east, and south marked tiles surrounding it. Play the flute and a bird will fly away. Play the flute anytime to warp all over Hyrule, but it only works in the Light World. This flute is helpful though because it takes you to a secret tile that takes you to the area Dark World Level 6 is located in, which is otherwise unreachable. It also cuts walking time down by alot.
