| COLLECTION OF PHILOSOPHY PAPERS AND ESSAYS | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This is my personal website that contains various philosophy writings that I have written either for college or for personal use. The articles themselves deal with a spectrum of subjects, with most of the concentration on philosophy of religion and philosophical theology. The writings provided are permissable for use in an academic context, and not for personal use only. The documents are in Microsoft Word format, click on the link and hit open to read. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Hume and Inductive Reasoning | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Quick links: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| A paper for intro to philosophy written to evaluate David Hume's argument about the problem of inductive inferences. Hume argues that our knowledge through inductive lines of thought cannot be trusted, neither can laws of the universe or nature. Not an extremely interesting paper, but is helpful to understand. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| My Music | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| My Fraternity | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Determinism and Freedom in Theistic Beliefs | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| My School | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| A philosophy of religion paper which raises the issues of incompatability between determinism and freedom raised by theism. The question at hand is whether an omnisicent, omnipotent god can have forknowledge without sacrificing human free will. A concentration of the essay addresses Molinism, which is explained in the article. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Evaluating the Kalam Cosmological Argument | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| An essay dealing with the Kalam cosmological argument which challenges the "cause" of the universe, specifically research philosopher William Lane Craig's writings. Craig argues an infinite timeline is an impossibility, and god must be the cause of the beginning of the universe. Much of it is spent comprehending and evaluating the argument, although some responses are made against Craig. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Response to Howard-Snyder and Bergmann's argument against the problem of evil | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Acclaimed philosophers Daniel Howard-Snyder and Michael Bergmann wrote a comprehensive argument against the problem of evil that contested the problem of evil no more supported atheism than it did theism. I raise two major points of contention against their refutation of the problem of evil; the probability of god's existance, and the problem of sin. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Four short answers dealing with philosophy of religion | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| For the final exam of philosophy of religion, the four questions were posed. The first question addressed dealing with the second interpretation of the cosmological argument was written by myself. The latter three questions are addressed by Anthony Olieveri. The first short answer addresses and helps understand Norman Malcolm's second interpretation of St. Anselm's cosmological argument referencing necessary being. I will elongate this to a full paper when I have some time. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
