| First comes love... | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Joe and I met at our high school in West Newbury, Massachusetts. We started dating in November of 1987 and grew close fast. We were typical "high school sweethearts" and spent as much time together as possible. We fell in love quickly. Realizing how hard it would be when Joe left for the Navy, we thought about seeing other people, but just couldn't do it. He left for boot camp in June of 1988 and we stayed in touch through letters and phone calls. I flew to Florida to see him graduate and then he was off to A school to begin his training as an electrician. |

| We wrote to each other faithfully and cherished the phone calls we shared. Joe came back to visit after completing A school and proposed. At the young age of 16, I was engaged to be married. We planned to have our wedding as soon as I graduated from high school. Now we had to win the blessings of our families. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Then comes marriage... | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| September 8, 1990 was a sunny, beautiful day; just perfect for our wedding. We celebrated with family and friends and said some sad goodbyes. Two days later, we moved to Gulfport, Mississippi where Joe was stationed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| After working for a short time at the local newspaper, I began working at the Child Development Center on the base. We were both happy with our jobs and had a lot of fun being newlyweds. Joe deployed overseas twice over the first 2 years of our marriage so we made the best of our time together. In the fall of 1992 we recieved our next set of orders and moved to Brunswick, Maine. Joe was a part of the Public Works Department there and helped with electrical maintience as well as snow removal and construction. I began working at the CDC there and quickly advanced to supervisor of the Toddler Room. I also began my college career by attending Early Childhood Education courses. We fell in love with Maine right away and decided that we would make it our home when it is time to settle down. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Then come Alex and Morgan in the baby carriage. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Our son, Alex, was born on August 17, 1995. We couldn't have been happier! We did our best as parents and learned as we went. Alex was the first grandchild on both sides of our families and never went without. When he was just 3 months old it was time to move again. We left for Iceland in December. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| After a few months in Iceland we starting making friends and adjusting to our new home. We did a little traveling around the island and made use of the facilites on the NATO base. We found out we were having another baby about a year later and were just thrilled! |

| Morgan was born on October 29, 1997. We added a beautiful daughter to our family and began a new phase in our lives. We had more experience this time and were confident in our parenting skills, but babies and toddlers are unpredictable and we had our hands full! It took a while but Alex adjusted to his new role of big brother and Joe and I to having a family of 4. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| After 3 1/2 years in Iceland it was time to move on. We were thrilled to get orders back to Maine! We moved back in July of 1999. Joe became a survival and resistance instructor and loved it. I graduted from Mid State College with an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and continued to be a stay-at-home mom, the best job I could ask for! We are now moving on to our next duty station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and looking forward to our new lives there. The kids are thriving and we are happy that we are able to stay together. And that is our story...for now anyway! |
